[Norway] PhD Research Fellowship at NTNU`s Research Programme in Information Security
Closing date: June 15, 2006 A PhD research fellowship is available at Department of Telematics, Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) within NTNU`s Research Programme in Information Security (http://www.ntnu.no/ikt).
The research theme of this fellowship is information security and assurance in wireless and mobile networks, possibly with a multidisciplinary approach. The applicant must include a short paper that proposes and motivates a research problem and method of approach within this theme.
Relevant education at the level of Master of Science or equivalent is required. Research fellows (PhD candidates) at NTNU are normally employed for 4 years with 25 % of their time spent on required duties. This work is primarily connected to teaching and is usually arranged so that most of it is done in the first half of the period of the employment.
The position is remunerated between levels 39 to 58 in the State salary scale, gross salary NOK 292 000 to 406 200 per annum. There is a compulsory deduction of 2 % for the State Pension Fund. The salary will be decided after discussion with the employer.
The appointment will be made in accordance with the current regulations for employment as a research fellow at universities and university colleges dated 2003-06-10 with supplementary guidelines for employment at NTNU passed on 2004-09-08. The objective of the advertised position is to obtain a PhD degree. Applicants must agree to participate in organized academic training in the period of employment. The successful applicant must agree to the conditions stipulated for State employees. An employment contract will be drawn up specifying the period of employment and the work-related duties for doctoral fellows.
The national workforce must reflect the composition of the population to the greatest possible extent. It is therefore a major political objective to achieve a balance of age and gender and recruit staff with an immigrant background. Immigrants are encouraged to apply for this post.
