[Germany] Research Associate Position in Numerical Modeling of Colloidal Suspensions at The Technical University Munic
Research associate position: `Numerical modeling of colloidal suspensions with particle methods` The Institute of Aerodynamics in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the TU Munich offers a fully-funded research associate position (BAT IIa) within the newly established Microfluidics group.
The position will be supported by the German Science Foundation, via the Emmy-Noether Program `Unified Lagrangian particle models for the simulation of complex fluids and multi-scale flow phenomena`. The successful applicant is expected to conduct research leading to a PhD in the area of numerical and theoretical modeling of particle methods (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics, Dissipative Particle Dynamics) for the simulation of colloidal suspensions.
He/she will work on the computational implementation of novel mesoscopic models on a 3D parallelized particle algorithm already available in our group. From a theoretical point of view, particular focus will be on the study of the complex interplay between the colloidal micro-structure and the rheology of the macroscopic suspension. The project will benefit from close collaboration with the theoretical group of Prof. Espanol at the Department of Physics, UNED in Madrid.
The ideal candidate will have a very strong knowledge of programming and computer simulation techniques (specially C/C++) and a solid background in physics, mathematics and /or engineering. This position offers the opportunity to work in a young and motivated growing team on Microfluidics and to interact with international leading-edge researchers working on multi-scale methods for complex fluids.
Financial resources for short-term stay at collaborative centers as well for attending workshops and conferences will be available. The Technical University Munich is an Equal Opportunity employer. Women, minorities and candidates with disabilities are therefore strongly encouraged to apply.
Interested candidates should submit a full curriculum vitae, covering letter together with academic records (pdf.file, please) at the email address given below. Contact: Dr. Marco Ellero, Institute of Aerodynamics, Technical University Munich
